This week’s dose of inspiration comes from Berlin. Moran Shavit is a super-talent photographer. She is an example of how a hobby became a profession. She enjoys seeing the world through her lens, and we are in love with her vision.

Who are you, and what do you do?
My name is Moran Shavit; I’m a photographer and a yoga teacher residing in Berlin with my partner and two boys.
I’ve been carrying a camera with me since I was a teenager and took it to a professional path later on in my twenties.
Up until today, I enjoy capturing all kinds of beauty and emotions through my lens.
How did you get started?
After working in a job that didn’t suit my professional aspirations, I’ve decided to take steps to start my own business.
A series of experiences brought me to realize the kind of photography service I wish to create and led to the sessions I’m offering
What sets you apart?
I offer photo sessions, perhaps in a less conventional way.
What I provide is an experience, a modest, intimate ritual that gives space and attention while allowing celebration of whatever there is, here and now.
What obstacles did you have to overcome?
I have lived in Berlin for several years already, but I don’t know if dealing with the German bureaucracy is an obstacle that I’ll ever be able to overcome. I have taken some great steps, though! Also, I have made a website by myself and been satisfied with the outcome. . . . Thank you, IM Creator!
Do you have any tips for other creators?
If you’re overwhelmed with bureaucracy and all the business side of things, reach out for help. I found that meeting a coach was very helpful. My coach helped me navigate through a system that I wasn’t familiar with and also helped me to be more objective toward the things that are indeed objective (even though we might have the tendency to make them personal).
