This week’s dose of inspiration comes all the way from Tokyo artist Miyamoto Manami.
Her creative collages adorn everything from chic business cards to avant garde clothing. Although her work is incredibly varied, there is still an essence of continuity as you explore her site and view her projects.
Let’s let Miyamoto answer our 5 Creator Questions for herself:
Who are you and what do you do?
I am a collage artist. It makes analog, digital, gif animation. And I want to express with many possibilities, so I am also working on styling and art direction.

How did you get started?
I first encountered collage in a high school class and I loved it. My hobby turned into a job just a few years ago.

What sets you apart?
Flowers, stars, chemistry, the world is all so fascinating. Knowing things I do not know, watching, listening – everything leads to creativity.
What obstacles did you have to overcome?
My professional experience was as a hairdresser’s assistant and I have never formally studied design. I am self taught, so I never know if something I create is artistically “correct” or not, but I believe there is no correct or incorrect answers when I’m expressing how I feel through my art.

Do you have any tips for other creators?
In Japan, the word “ordinary,” is overused. I do not know if that is good or bad.
However, I know that if I want to express myself I must be free from trying to be ordinary.
If you’re still undecided about whether or not she is ordinary, go ahead and take a look at her website and we’re confident you’ll find it extraordinary.
We especially liked her eye-catching animations, as best seen in her Double Bond project.
